Oras,
Not sure if you were answering me or Mighty Z? if it was my post, the point I was trying to make about similar characteristics is best illustrated by two other examples.
"It's Raining (aka Weatherman Skank) and Never Let Go (aka Answer) are clearly different but can sound similar on some mixes unless you listen carefully. The same goes with Girl I've Got A Date and Liquidator.

Re: error on mighty's s1 roots vol 3 review?
I have never disputed that they are not the same riddim - but they are very similar tunes if not based on the same one. The keyboard riff is the same and the bass lines virtually identical tune played in a slightly different riddim. I am certainly not someone who claims all reggae is played on the same bassline, I mean, come on, I am a reggae bassist! But to me these seem pretty much the same tune played in a different style - like one is another persons take on the other. Any body else think they are similar - or am I alone on this?
If in my attempts to review this album I have somehow transgressed some minor technicality, well - sorry
Personally, I am not interested in such minor technical transgressions, just into enjoying music!
I hope it didn't stop you buying that fine album!

as I told you mightyz everybody can be wrong... the ugly keyboards I was talking about are only on jackie mittoo's version called "mash down babylon" (got it on a 12 inch 45 rpm)oras wrote: 2) "ina armagideon" is based on the riddim of "armagideon rock"/"mash down babylon". the bass on this song clearly plays the original baba boom bassline. winston just added some really ugly keyboards.

Jackie Mittoo Ba ba boom 7" Music city '67
also on Musical Fever lp.
7" Jim Brown - Jam it up front - lp battle of the dj's.
confusion is that Mash down babylon is the real rock rydim but the keyboards riff is on ina armagideon.
But all tracks produce by Jackie Mittoo for ST1 /Stine-Jac
