Coxsone give singers & players a place & money to make there music.

He was bad & good for the music like every other producers ina Jamaica.

I agree with Lion. Dodd like all other producers was good & bad. However, Byron Lee and Leslie Kong's histories are often more maligned by accusations of ripping off their artists more so then their African Jamaican counterparts.

What is significant though is Dodd was the first black Jamaican to OWN his own studio/production company. That is why I feel he is held in such high regard in the press.

There was a recent interview (somewhere online) with Leroy Sibbles lashing out at Dodd for never paying him.

Hmmm...funny how this thread has similarities to the artists practicing what they preach.
