What does your family/friends think about your reggae love?

My mom was the cause of my 'reggaemylitis', but besides her, no one I know likes the reggae vibrations, beyond knowing "jammin"

My girlfriend tolerates reggae, and I tolerate chinese pop though she does dig some of the newer reggae and dancehall, buju banton, beenie man, etc.

But yeah most my friends either listen to Nickelback or gangsta rap

But found one that liked Toots, going to the Toronto show on the 22nd!(tu):D

Being a Peruvian guy living in New York, had always been asked for my reggae/rasta obsession. The other night went to a big dance in Jamaica, Queens, and the bouncer asked me, do you know where you going?, thinking that I was at the wrong place!

Which is fine cause it is give and take. nothing like seeing her face when I put some likkle digikal tunes pon the table and play with the delay and siren units!! Yep, went to see a daddy u roy tribute (he was a no-show lol) featuring Sugar, Briggy, Cornell, Ranking......
My girlfriend is Colombian, and she can not live without her country's music. Fine, I do RASpect that, but I can not listen to my cds in the car anymore when riding with her! So unfare!. But It's my girl, gotta be OK with her.

My wife and 18 year old daughter think I am mad, my 21 year old son is more receptive but strangely my mother of 73 is more tolerant than all the rest... Only those with ears will listen...

elder sister- lightly.

mum&dad- can now identify other artists voices other than lucky dube's.

friends- are worried bout me, they think i'm mad. so unlucky dat those who claim to like it are amateurs, but growing...

my mum used to complain bout my growing locks, now she gives me money to re-touch them when i'm down!!
hence i guess none of them has a problem.

Well, it started with my brother back in 80 , than I got hooked . Now ,well can you say it's just a part of my life. My wife learned to accept it , my father never understood it , my mom just learned to deal ..she smokes anyway . My favorite thing is when I meet someone from Ja and when I tell them I'm a Seletor with a sound Crew . They want to know how a nice Jewish boy for California got into Reggae . Most of my friends are Reggae people except for a few who kinda understand ...

well most of my friends are listening to reggae, so there is no problem..

i think my neighbours see me as a kind of freak..but i think they like me.. so when they here my music play or here me strumming my guitar and singing. I don't think they feel disturbed..When I meet them they greet me very kindly with a smile

My girlfriends (I know a lot of girls) are more into that modern stuff and they like it when i play some marlon asher tunes or some jah cure, ras shiloh, Beres Hammond, Glen Washington and so on..But the like also some good rocksteady..I think they don't like it when it gets to deep...Things like Lee Perry, Culture, Ras Michael, Prince Far I, Yabby You are just to hard for them.

My family used to say that this music has a bad influence, but now they stopped saying that, because now they realise it has become a huge part of me

Live with my parents. My parents don't think anything about it. My father called the reggae I listen to "soul" and "african music". He likes Johnny Clarke and Culture, but dissaproves of steppers drums when played loud. Says it makes him nervous.
My mother hums along with it.
My sister likes some dancehall, but gets bored when I play too much reggae in the car.
My brother says he don't like it, but has borrowed King Jammy's cd and is now seriously getting into dubstep, so there must be some influence.
One man I converted is my brother in law. He now joins me to reggae dances and dances like a madman to it.

well, most of my friends and family like it, my mom hates it,dad loves it. my friends like it but think i am obsessed.
the funny part about my mom not liking it is as she is yelling at me to turn it off or down she usually is dancing or singing along to it. go figure

my neighbor who lives behind me has tropical birds, the ones that talk. i swear i hear them singing along to it.
lets face it reggae music and all things related to it, ska,rocksteady,roots have an undeniable riddim appeal. its almost as if the riddim and the bass are naturally apart of the human condition it was embedded in our brains before we even heard it for the first time. you think i am b.s ing you? my dad was all out rocker zeppelin hendrix duane allman all that stuff. the first time i brought a roots record home he wouldnt stop listening to it. he basically ditched all of his music to listen to reggae. most of my friends were into punk growing up, when i introduced them to roots all things changed. i dont see anymore mowhawks. my point is weather someone says they like it or hate it, reggae music is undeniable probably the most distinct music out there.
