well. In the first place producers hope to sell more records... a shiny colored record looks always a little nicer than the average black one...

Yes. Just recently got a the Natty Congo 12" disco with DEB's -"Oh girl" tune inna clear vinyl format!!! This one is a Beautiful press & has great sound quality.

Colored vinyls are more fragile (the carbon black is used to strenghten the vinyl).

Compromises the sound as well.
