Original vocal - female singer

Post by Rob Strictly-Rockers »

I'm looking to identify the original vocal tune on which both these DJ versions are cut:

"The Sir Is Back" Sir Harry & E Jarrett

"Down Deh" U Roy

The link below is to a sample of the version side of The Sir Is Back on which you can clearly here some of the original vocals. I didn't use the U Roy cut as that has the original vocals completely taken out.

I assume the E Jarrett referred to is the female singer and not Eccleton Jarret. I have a vague recollection of somebody once mentioning a singer called Elaine or Enid Jarret but I may be mistaken.

Any help gratefully received.
Thanks

It's Euda Jarrett, whoever she is, and the tune is called You Hurt Me and it came on a yellow Top Form label from jamaica with red lettering. Don't know the U Roy to it though - any good?

Suzifan

Many thanks.

The U Roy cut is good as well. You can find it here:

I believe it will be on the new CD "Foundation Skank- 1971-1975 Rare Sides By The DJ Originator" which is being released in April.

Thanks again
