Re: reggae & dub: collection for sale
Yes, I could: but because I have invested so much time (literally hundreds of hours over three years)and money (over £1800) into the project, I feel justified in asking for less than 1p per song.

Kipper,
When you say you are selling these ultra rare collection of songs in MP3 format, am I right in assuming you have the originals on vinyl/CD.
If this is the case and, as you say, want to make all this fine music available to everyone, why not sell the originals.
If you are a collector and therefore intend keeping the tracks in there original format then why not look at trading.
I`m sure there are guys on this site who have got titles that you want and may feel more comfortable trading with you than paying for titles in MP3 format.
After all if you can add something that you want to your collection that has got to be worth more than the £48.00p you reckon you will make from selling all these titles.
Peace
Baldhaed

If you had been sanctioned by the artists and were paying their due royalties then you may have a point.
But you're not – what you are doing is illegal and immoral. Don't lecture me about how much time you have spent justifying your actions. You are little more than a common crook.
You have no right selling copies of music you have acquired.
I urge the moderators to delete this post and ban this money-grabbing moron.

Re: reggae & dub: collection for sale
I have no real axe to grind either way, but, to play Devil's Advocate somewhat - I would say that if I wished to sell off my vinyl collection, that I'd worked darn hard to earn the money for the LPs etc in my late teens in the first place, & if I want to make a bit on them now, it's up to me. AND I don't get to keep the originals!
On a related matter - one good thing that UB40 did (whatever you think of them) was to pay royalties to JA artists for their cover versions. Remember how the artists who recorded 'Full Up' & 'Pass The Kouchie' went to the law to try & get their just rewards when Musical Youth had a huge hit with it - don't think they got a cent.

Dear Nahskinup,
you have belittled yourself by resorting to insults - have your point of view, but there's no need for such immature, inaccurate language.
I hereby withdraw my intention to sell this collection. It is no longer for sale.

I agree with the rest...its one thing sharing music that may never be heard for 0 profit, but to sell copies and not the original is indeed against the law. Someone oughta close this thread.
